Our First Full Episode is Here! (And Yes, It Actually Works)
Today marks a milestone I've been working toward for months—the release of Episode 1 of Dormant Knowledge: "The Great Calculus War." After countless hours of research, script writing, recording, editing, and re-recording, our first full episode is finally live on all major podcast platforms.

Today marks a milestone I've been working toward for months—the release of Episode 1 of Dormant Knowledge: "The Great Calculus War." After countless hours of research, script writing, recording, editing, and re-recording, our first full episode is finally live on all major podcast platforms.
The Journey to Episode 1
This project has been months in the making, born from a simple but persistent idea: what if there was educational content specifically designed for those moments when your brain wants to learn something interesting, but your body desperately needs to wind down? As someone who's always been fascinated by obscure topics and random deep dives into history and science, I kept thinking there had to be others out there who shared this particular form of intellectual curiosity.
The timing of launching this podcast couldn't be more personally relevant. Between little kids and babies who seem to have a supernatural ability to wake up just as I'm drifting off to sleep, I've been operating on minimal rest for what feels like forever. Some nights, I lie awake with my mind racing, wishing I had something engaging enough to hold my attention but gentle enough not to wire me up further. That's exactly the gap Dormant Knowledge is designed to fill.
The Ultimate Test
Last night, I decided to put Episode 1 to the ultimate test. After getting everyone finally settled (again), I crawled into bed around 10:30 PM and hit play on "The Great Calculus War." I was genuinely curious whether I'd created something that actually worked, or if I'd just been fooling myself about the whole concept.
I made it exactly ten minutes.
Not because it was boring—I was actually getting absorbed in the story of Newton's secret mathematical breakthrough and the brewing controversy with Leibniz. But somewhere around the part where I was explaining how calculus revolutionized our understanding of motion and change, my eyelids got heavy, my thoughts got pleasantly fuzzy, and the next thing I knew, it was morning. Well, no. I wish. It was a little after midnight and the babies were crying. And then I slept a little bit more and the babies were crying again. And then my two year old wandered into our room at 4 am.
But! Success? I'd say so!
What's Next
Episode 1 covers the fascinating rivalry between Isaac Newton and Gottfried Leibniz over who really invented calculus. It's got everything: scientific genius, academic politics, international controversy, and enough mathematical intrigue to keep your mind engaged while your body relaxes. Whether you're a math enthusiast or someone who barely passed algebra, the story is compelling enough to follow and soothing enough to let you drift away.
We've got Episode 2 on Pluto nearly ready to go, and I'm already deep into research for Episode 3 on the surprisingly complex history of the light bulb. The goal is to build a library of content that works whether you hear every word or fade out somewhere in the middle—either way, some fascinating knowledge makes its way into your consciousness.
We Need Your Help
Here's where I have to be honest: keeping this project going depends entirely on whether people actually want it. Podcast production takes significant time and energy (especially when you're already running on fumes), and the only way to know if Dormant Knowledge has found its audience is through your support and feedback.
If you've tried the episode and it worked for you—or even if it didn't quite hit the mark but you appreciate the concept—please help us get the word out. Share it with friends who might be interested, mention it on social media, or leave a review on your podcast platform of choice. Word-of-mouth is everything for a project like this, especially in those early days when we're trying to prove there's a real audience for sleep-friendly educational content.
You can find us on Instagram and Facebook @dormantknowledge, on X @drmnt_knowledge, and right here on our website. We try to have some different content everywhere. Follow along for behind-the-scenes updates, fascinating facts from upcoming episodes, and the occasional sleep-deprived parent rambling about the intersection of learning and rest.
Thank you for being part of this experiment. Whether you make it through entire episodes or drift off ten minutes in like I did, you're helping prove that there's a place for educational content designed specifically for tired minds and curious hearts.
Sweet dreams, and welcome to Dormant Knowledge.
